Position Summary:
The Transfer Counselor recruits and guides prospective transfer students, building relationships with students, families, and partner institutions to support a smooth transition to the University of Northwestern – St. Paul. Through a Christ-centered approach, this position advances enrollment goals while helping students make informed decisions about their academic future.

Key Responsibilities:
• Achieve enrollment goals by effectively recruiting, counseling, and supporting prospective transfer students throughout the admissions process.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective students, their families, and key influencers to support decision-making.
• Develop and sustain partnerships with community colleges, feeder institutions, and other organizations that serve transfer students.
• Evaluate transfer student transcripts and collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Registrar’s Office, admissions staff) to ensure timely, accurate admissions decisions.
• Maintain and communicate up-to-date transfer pathways and articulation agreements in collaboration with admissions leadership.
• Represent the University of Northwestern – St. Paul at recruitment events, college fairs, and campus programs to promote the institution and its mission.
• Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Maintain a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, reflect His character in all interactions, and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, Doctrinal Statement and Declaration of Christian Community
Nice To Have:
• 1-2 years of professional work experience
• Previous college or university recruiting and transcript evaluation experience

Key Skills:
• Independent & Teamwork: Capable of working both independently and collaboratively, with minimal supervision.
• Confidentiality: Maintains discretion and handles sensitive information appropriately.
• Organizational Skills: Strong time management and problem-solving abilities; able to prioritize and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
• Technical Proficiency: Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and related software.
• Written & Verbal Communication: Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
• Travel: Willingness and ability to travel within assigned areas and to travel overnight 2-3 weeks per year.
• Driver’s License: Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
• Background Check: Must pass initial and ongoing background checks as a condition of employment.
